Tuesday 2 August 2011

So since our last post we´ve survived four days in shadey Salvador. Salvador is where the African  culture has been preserved most in Brazil as we learnt from our talking guide book aka Eleanor Foster-Gregg. On our first night our lovely hostel owner Hector suggested we see a capoeira folklore show which turned out to be brilliant. In the next few days we explored the town and bartered for a few new bikinis (see pictures to admire said items).

We made friends with a few people in our hostel bar, including a Brazilian rockstar dressed in some very strange attire...

....apparently he used to be a goverment minister. We all ventured out to a samba club that night and practised our native moves with Keelin finally having the opportunity to imitate Shakira. Although it was nice to experience the different culture in Salvador, we did feel a bit on edge quite alot and were looking forward to moving onto the paradise island of Morro De Sao Paolo.

We´d originally planned to stay here only for two days but the amazing weather and beautiful beaches have enticed us to a cheeky four night stay. Needless to say we are looking slightly pinker and more freckly than usual and Shauna was even chatted up on the beach with the unbeatable pick up line of ´Oi girl, you look like a shrimp´. Unimpressed was not even the word.

We shall return to our after sun ritual now but before we go, Mum has told us she she has got her friends following us...hi Anne Buckley and anyone else!!

Speak soon!
